This is the Citroen SpaceTourer and it’s pretty much what you would expect an MPV people mover to be all about. The SpaceTourer will be based on the EMP2 plarform just like the C4 Picasso giving it a layout that provides a lot of cabin space. Much like many MPVs the SpaceTourer intends to cater for personal and business based usage.
Compared to other MPVs that are new to the market the SpaceTourer comes across as simple. It uses the traditional Citroen headlamp and grille layout with some additional air intakes placed throughout the bumper along side the LED driving lights and foglamps. With this design Citroen also boasts a five star EuroNCAP rating with a 91% child protection figure.
The interior of the SpaceTourer is conservative when you compare it to the rest of Citroen’s lineup. What you get is three rows of removable seats available in both leather or cloth upholstery depending on the trim and ventilation controls for both the middle and rear rows. A parallel split glass roof is also used for higher trim models. The driver’s seat sees a conventional set of controls including a multifunction steering wheel, rotary gear selector and a seven-inch touchscreen with voice command and MirrorLink.
The SpaceTourer also adopts a lot of convenient features such as hands free access to passenger doors, opening rear window and a long list of safety focused driver aids. Driving the SpaceTourer will be a collection of BlueHDi diesel engines seen across the PSA range. The new platform and engine combination gives the SpaceTourer a load capacity of 1 400 kg.
No word whet on whether this MPV will be reaching the South African market.
