Chinese automaker Zotye has officially launched its SR9, and the new SUV bears more than just a passing resemblance to the Porsche Macan.
Porsche threatened Zotye with legal action when the Chinese manunfacturer unveiled a pre-production version of the Macan-clone back in 2014, but that clearly hasn’t had the desired effect.
According to reports, the Zotye SR9 is powered by a Mitsubishi-sourced, turbocharged 2,0-litre four-cylinder petrol mill, linked to either a five-speed manual or six-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Interestingly, the Chinese designers have made the SR9 somewhat larger than the Macan, adding 63 mm to its overall length and 43 mm to its wheelbase.
Earlier this year, Zotye revealed its X7, which draws heavily on the styling of the second-generation Volkswagen Tiguan. In fact, the automaker is no stranger to the clone game, with its Smart ForTwo lookalike appearing on our list of 5 of the most blatant copycat cars out of China.
