The Volkswagen Golf 8 GTI has been given an increase in power by German tuner DTE Systems, pushing peak output to a Clubsport-matching 221 kW.
Using Volkswagen’s familiar EA888 turbocharged 2,0-litre, four-cylinder petrol mill as a base, DTE has applied its PowerControl X unit to increase the maximum outputs from 180 kW and 370 N.m of torque to 221 kW and 418 N.m.
DTE says its in-house-developed chip tuning works with multi-map technology. Thus, the tuning system “optimises” all relevant parameters and controls for more effective combustion.
The PowerControl X has a digital feature to match the digital cockpit of the GTI. Thanks to the application control system, the driver can adapt the tuning to their personal driving style at any time and switch between the sport, dynamic and efficiency programmes.
In DTE’s app, engine data such as boost pressure, manifold pressure and acceleration can be viewed in real time.
