Custom Land Rover Defender 110 gains V8 engine and modern tech…

The team at East Coast Defender have created yet another interesting take on Land Rover’s old-school Defender, handing it a V8 engine and some modern touches.

Dubbed Project Duke, this Defender 110 sports an array of technical improvements, inside and out.

Power comes from a Chevrolet L92 6,2-litre V8 with an output of 296 kW, which is delivered to all four wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission. the The US-based tuner has also added a Borla Performance exhaust system.

Improving ride and handling is ECD’s adjustable air suspension system, which is supported by a set of 18-inch Kahn Defend 1983 wheels wrapped in BF Goodrich T/A K02 265/65 R19 tyres. The rigidity of the structure, meanwhile, has been enhanced by an external roll cage from the folks at Safety Devices.

Project Duke is finished in Bonatti grey metallic paint with matte-black accents, while its front bumper hosts a Warn Industries winch.

The SUV’s interior gains plenty of premium materials, such as Spinneybeck Vovo black leather upholstery for the front Recaro Orthoped and rear seats, complete with white diamond contrast stitching. The headliner is finished in black suede.

A Startech LR steering wheel and an Alpine infotaintment system with JL audio speakers have also been fitted. Optional kit includes wireless smartphone charging, rear air-conditioning, classic series gauges, full-length side steps and illuminated door handles.
