Wondering how much the facelifted Bentley Bentayga will cost you in South Africa? Well, we have local prices for the updated luxury SUV.

The refreshed Bentayga V8 starts at R3 825 000, again powered by a twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 petrol engine sending 404 kW and 770 N.m to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. The British firm claims a top speed of 290 km/h and a 0-100 km/h time of 4,5 seconds.

Looking for even more oomph? Well, the local range also includes the updated Bentayga Speed, which now kicks off at R5 450 000. This variant employs a twin-turbo 6,0-litre W12 engine worth an unchanged 467 kW and 900 N.m. As before, the 0-100 km/h sprint takes a claimed 3,9 seconds, with top speed listed as a heady 306 km/h.

So, what’s new with the Crewe-based firm's SUV? Well, the Bentayga’s updated look brings it neatly in line with its siblings, the third-generation Continental GT and the new Flying Spur. In fact, the company says “every panel” at the front of the vehicle has been redesigned.

The grille is both larger and more upright than before, while new LED matrix headlamps have been adopted and sited higher than before. There’s also a “more aggressive” front bumper, while heated “wet-arm” windscreen wipers (with 22 washer jets in each arm) have been introduced.

At the rear, Bentley says the SUV has also “undergone a major transformation”, with a “total redesign” of its rump (complete with a 20 mm increase to the rear track width), including a new full-width tailgate incorporating new taillamps. The licence plate, meanwhile, has been moved down into the bumper, while the wheel design is fresh, too.

Inside, changes include the adoption of a new central facia and steering wheel, fresh door trim and all-new seats. There’s also an upgraded infotainment system run through a 10,9-inch screen and now featuring wireless Apple CarPlay, along with Android Auto. Bentley furthermore says passengers in the rear now enjoy “significantly” more space (plus a larger touchscreen remote control tablet), with legroom increased by up to 100 mm depending on the configuration.
