Ferrari has finally released the first official images of the open-top version of the LaFerrari, a new limited-edition model from the Italian automaker.
The official name (Spider, anyone? Aperta, perhaps?) of the newcomer will be revealed at the Paris Motor Show in October, although Ferrari says all examples have already been sold “after a special preview to clients”.
What’s that sound, you ask? Yes, we’re afraid it’s the order book being slammed shut. Sorry.
The new limited-edition model will feature a removable carbon-fibre hard-top and a removable soft-top. As expected, it will be powered by the same hybrid powertrain – featuring a V12 and an electric motor – as used in the original LaFerrari (itself limited to 499 units). And that means 708 kW and 900 N.m.
But Ferrari says “significant and extensive modifications” have been made to the chassis with the aim of retaining the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness as the coupé. The new vehicle’s aerodynamics have also been “further honed to guarantee the same drag coefficient when driving in the open configuration”.
We’ll know more once the car is officially launched in Paris later this year.
