Based on the F8 Tributo platform, the latest Ferrari SP48 Unica has become the latest one-off two-seater berlinetta model from the Ferrari Special Projects programme. The end result of this creation combines performance and design, reimagined in a bespoke Prancing Horse.
For an amount of money, possibilities are endless. This is the purpose of the in house Special Projects programme which allows clients to collaborate with the design team at Ferrari’s Centro Stile to really create a unique and bespoke motorcar. The creations which can sometimes seem more opulent than the models on which they are based still strive to retain the brands vocation for speed and racing soul. The SP48 Unica boasts a thermal-fluid-dynamic design which looks striking but also reduces overall drag by 12%, thus improving aerodynamic balance. Afterall, “design can never come at the expense of performance”.
This is compliments to changes with the cooling air intakes which have been revised from the front bumper all the way to beneath the rear spoiler that improve channelled airflow into them and are more optimally angled. Innovative 3D prototype and procedural-parametric modelling techniques have also been a major factor in the resulting forms that the SP48 Unica beholds. A completely redesigned front grille and engine air intakes are prominent but none more so than the rear end, which borrows some styling cues from the Roma Grand Tourer.

The inside boasts a black laser-perforated Alcantara finish on the seats and cabin trim with the same iridescent reddish orange tinge from the exterior continued on the interior fabric. Matt carbon-fibre lines all other surfaces which is complimented by Grigio Canna di Fucile (gun metal grey) accents.
The final result is a “unique Ferrari sporting the Prancing Horse logo and engineered to the same standard of excellence as every car that rolls off the Maranello assembly lines.”
