It is not often that a new manufacturer enters the bakkie arena. The most notable addition in recent years was Volkswagen with its Amarok. However, now Fiat will try to take a piece of the pie with its new Fullback. Based on the new Mitsubishi Triton, the range will consist of two double-cab models and one single-cab.
The double-cabs will be powered by a 2,5-litre turbodiesel unit delivering 131 kW and 400 N.m in the four-wheel drive LX derivative and 100 kW/324 N.m in the rear-wheel drive SX model.
The single-cab model is a rear-wheel drive version with a 2,4-litre petrol engine delivering 97 kW/202 N.m.
The double-cab will be available in nine different colours while a number of accessories from Mopar will also be offered. These will include a 490-litre roof box, soft tonneau cover, lower door strips and even chrome Fiat-branded valve caps.
