After leaked images of Fiat’s new bakkie surfaced not too long ago, the brand has decided to offer a soft release of their new bakkie, called the Toro.
The Toro seems to attain a lot of styling ques from its Chrysler partnership with its LED lights along the bonnet line and above the headlamps. Fog lights, faux aluminium and chrome accents also give off the impression that this particular Toro is the top of the range model.
The Toro has a claimed carry load of 1 000 kg, while comfortably seating five people. Rumors still suggest that it will be based on the Renegade platform with 4×2 or 4×4 available depending on the choice of engine. These choices consist of either the 1,8-litre 16V E-Torq Flex attached to a six-speed automatic or the 2,0-litre 16V Multijet turbodiesel with the six-speed manual for the 4×2 or the nine-speed automatic transmission for the 4×4 drivetrain.
The base model of the Toro will still be a well equipped utility vehicle with features such as the uConnect infotainment system, GPS navigation and a rear-view camera as standard. Brazilian trim models consist of the Urban, Adrenaline and Country.
With the Country being the Toro’s highest model derivative, it will be equipped with dual-zone automatic climate control system, off-road suspension and Hill Descent Control among other equipment and will only be available with the 2,0-litre turbodiesel engine.
Release dates and pricing are expected to be revealed in the next few weeks.
