A modern interpretation of the original, the Ford GT Heritage Edition pays homage to the 1964 Ford GT prototypes that led to America’s only Le Mans-winning supercar, a Le Mans champion from 1966 to 1969, and again in 2016.
As the Ford GT enters its final year of production in 2022, Ford has added another tribute to its Heritage Edition series. It combines classic Ford Performance features such as Wimbledon White paint, a triple racing stripe with contemporary touches including exposed carbon fibre behind Antimatter Blue-painted carbon fibre wheels, and of course Lightspeed Blue Alcantara seats. An exposed carbon fibre front splitter, side sills, mirror stalks, engine louvres and rear diffuser finished in gloss add to the modern aesthetic of the special edition homage, the sixth in the ultra-limited-production Heritage Edition series.
Monterey Car Week played host to the sole surviving 1964 Ford GT prototype, chassis GT/105, alongside which the Ford GT ’64 Prototype Heritage Edition was unveiled.
Mike Severson, Ford GT programme manager noted, “This is the first Ford GT Heritage Edition that goes beyond celebrating race wins – this one goes deep, and honours the earliest of Ford supercar heritage.”
The other 5 vehicles in the Heritage Edition series pay homage to the Le Mans-winning titles, as well as other landmark moments. The list of Ford GT Heritage Models is as follows;
- 2021 Ford GT ’66 Daytona Heritage Edition
