The special edition Ford Ranger Stormtrak has landed in South Africa as a new flagship offering for the double-cab bakkie range. The new example boasts some styling enhancements and a preferable list of standard features.
With a price tag of R790 300 for the 4×2 and R846 500 for the 4×4, the Ford Ranger Stormtrak comes standard with 18-inch black alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitoring system, auto on LED headlamps and DRLs, a black mesh grille with red inserts, custom decals, a power roller shutter, sports bar, black roof rails, bed divider for the load box, a tow bar and an illuminated set of front scuff plates.
For added safety, the Ford Ranger Stormtrak also adds seven airbags, electronic brake assist, hill launch assist and descent control, roll-over mitigation, adaptive load and trailer sway control, ISOFIX anchor points and front and rear parking sensors with a rear-view camera.
Comfort features included in the Ford Ranger Stormtrak package consist of keyless entry with push start, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control with autonomous braking, dual-zone climate control, an 8,0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with two USB parts, a 230V power converter, four 12V power points, rain sensing wipers, electronically folding mirrors with puddle lamps and an electrochromatic rear view mirror. The seats are also covered with black leather that is contrasted by red stitching. Further additions to the cabin include a soft-feel dashboard and ambient lighting.
The Ford Ranger Stormtrak is powered by the brand’s twin-turbodiesel 2,0-litre four-cylinder engine that produces 157 kW and 500 N.m of torque to the wheels via a 10-speed automatic transmission. This is backed by a four-year/120 000 km warranty, six-year/90 000 km service plan, three-year roadside assistance and five-year/unlimited km corrosion warranty.
