When the new Ford Tourneo Custom arrived in South Africa in 2024, the local model range comprised only a single derivative, the then-entry-level Trend variant. However, at the launch, Ford South Africa confirmed that the Tourneo Custom line-up will be expanded over time. Now, the local arm of the Blue Oval brand has introduced a brand-new entry-level Tourneo Custom to our shores and it has the ‘Active’ suffix added to the moniker.

Like the Trend, the Active is exclusively available in long-wheelbase configuration and with Ford’s 2.0-litre SiT oil-burner. The single-turbo four-cylinder diesel unit produces 100 kW and 360 N.m of torque, the full complement of which is available from 1 750 to 2 500 r/min. Power is exclusively sent to the front axle via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Ford claims an average fuel consumption figure of 7.4 L/100 km for this version of the 2.0-litre SiT (as a reminder, the recently-launched short-wheelbase Transit Custom Sport panel van is endowed with 125 kW/390 N.m).
As standard, Active level of specification includes such items as 13.0-inch touchscreen infotainment, which incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto screen mirroring; a 12.0-inch instrument binnacle housing an 8.0-inch digital driver’s display; and fore and aft park distance sensors that are supplemented by a reverse-view camera system.

Further included with Active trim grade are safety items such as six airbags and Isofix child-seat anchorages, and driver assistance systems such as cruise control and lane-keep assist. Tyre pressure monitoring is also present.
Ford Tourneo Custom Active Price in SA
The Tourneo Custom Active is priced from R1 050 000, making it R26 000 less expensive than the Trend derivative we sampled at the local launch in 2024. Included in the purchase is a four-year/120 000 km warranty.
