Before today, the Ford Transit Connect could only be fitted with the 1,6 TDCi or the 1,0 EcoBoost. The 1,6 TDCi, however has now been replaced with the more modern 1,5 TDCi in order to improve performance, fuel consumption and running costs for companies.
The new engine provides the Transit Connect with 88 kW (3 kW more than before) and 270 N.m of torque. This will be delivered to the wheels via a six-speed manual transmission. Fuel consumption comes in at a frugal 4,8 L/100 km.
The commercial van can also be fitted with a load-through hatch and window joined by a dual passenger seat at no extra cost. This replaces the standard full-width steel bulkhead which separates the load compartment from the cabin.
Standard safety features on the Transit Connect consist of ABS, electronic stability programme with hill launch assist, load adaptive control, emergency brake assist, emergency brake warning and roll-over mitigation to keep your cargo and occupants safe.
Air-conditioning, power steering, electrically operated front windows and a built-in radio with two speakers with Bluetooth connectivity aim to add a sense of comfort.
An Ambiente Option Pack is available for those who want an LED load compartment light, front and rear parking sensors with a reversing camera and Ford’s tyre pressure monitoring system.
The cost of the Ford Transit Connect 1,5 TDCi LWB Ambiente is R323 900 and comes with a four-year/120 000 km warranty and four-year/60 000 km service plan.
