The new Everest has just been launched on local soil and it comes with a seven-figure price tag on the top-spec Platinum model. Here is all specification and pricing.
Bigger, better and more capable is what the new Everest is being touted as by Ford and based on some of the specification we can see why. It won’t come cheap though since the model donned with a top-level of specification will cost over six-figures for the first time.
Bigger and better; the new Everest
“The Next-Gen Everest has been designed with one thing in mind, and that’s our customers,” says Doreen Mashinini, General Manager for Marketing at Ford South Africa. “Everest owners are people who like adventure, recreation and being able to go out with family and friends. Whether they’re conquering sand, rocky paths or city life, these customers appreciate the utility, capability and spaciousness of an SUV, and this is where the Next-Gen Everest excels by being tough on the outside, while providing a sanctuary on the inside matched to amazing capability underneath.”
Two grades of the Next-Gen Everest are available at launch, headlined by a new flagship grade: the Everest Platinum which is brimmed with as much luxury as the performance from its 3,0-litre V6 turbodiesel engine. 184 kW of power and a 600Nm of torque are transferred through Ford’s 10-speed automatic, linked to a permanent all-wheel drive system.

Customers also have the choice of the more affordable Everest Sport which is powered by the proven 2,0-litre Bi-Turbo diesel engine, matched to the 10-speed automatic. Putting out a respectable 154 kW and 500 N.m, this new Everest uses an electronic shift-on-the-fly part-time four-wheel drive system.

On the inside, the obvious talking point is the 12-inch portrait infotainment screen. In place of traditional analogue clusters, the Sport comes with an 8-inch digital instrument cluster while the Platinum model receives a 12,4-inch version. This includes Ford’s latest SYNC® 4A system, which comes customer-ready with its voice-activated communications, entertainment and information systems. Linked to the wireless charging functionality, the system also incorporates wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
On the top-spec Platinum model, the portrait-orientated screen also is linked to a 360-degree camera with split-view display, ideal for tight spaces or tricky off-road adventuring.
