Renault has lifted the wraps off the facelifted Renault Kwid city hatchback. 

Sporting an “SUV-inspired” design, the fresh-faced Kwid measures 3 731 mm in length (up by 52 mm). Ground clearance has increased, too; compared to the pre-facelifted model’s 180 mm, the remodelled Kwid has gains an extra 4 mm. Wheelbase (2 422 mm) and width (1 579 mm) has remained unchanged. The French automaker says the enhanced dimensions offer improved levels of comfort to occupants.

The most notable update to the Kwid is its redesigned front end. The revised front grille is flanked by slim light clusters, complete with LED daytime running lights. Sited below these items, the headlamps have been moved to the more pronounced front bumper. Roof rails have been fitted to the boomerang-shaped roof, while an integrated spoiler can be found at the rear.

To stand out, Renault says customers can specify the Kwid in various accessory packages, such as an Essential-, SUV-, Chrome- and Urban pack. “All-new” multi-spoke 14-inch alloys, finished in a volcano grey hue, is also on offer. And Zanskar Blue has been added as a sixth exterior colour option.

Inside, the Kwid features a cosmetic updates such as a dual-tone dashboard, replete with chrome accents, and gloss-black trim, which surrounds an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The latter setup includes Android Auto and Apple CarPlay functionality. A rear-view reverse camera, a fast charging USB port and 12V sockets (fore and aft) completes the package. The front and rear windows are electrically operated. 

The interior upholstery comprises fabric seats, which can be specified in an array of designs, and a leather-clad steering wheel. Peek behind the tiller and you'll notice the digital instrument cluster. Combined, the cabin compartments offer 24 litres of storage space, while the boot swallows 279 litres, which can be expanded to 620 litres.

Safety equipment includes a driver side airbag, ABS and EBD.

The 1,0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine has remained. As a reminder the three-cylinder mill, which can be coupled with either a five-speed manual 'box or automated manual transmission, is good for 50 kW and 91 N.m of torque.
