Earlier this week, we mentioned that GAC Motors is set to introduce its own contender in the bustling crossover/SUV segment. The Emzoom will be available in three different grades. Here’s a breakdown of its pricing and features.
GS3 Emzoom Pricing:
- Emzoom Comfort – R469 900
- Emzoom Executive – R499 900
- Emzoom R-Style – R549 900
The GS3 Emzoom’s front design is markedly more aggressive than its predecessor. Moving beyond its functional crossover roots, the GS3 Emzoom now makes a definitive statement with its sporty and youthful appearance. The highlight of the lineup is undoubtedly the R-Style. The exterior of the GS3 Emzoom R-Style exudes sportiness and boldness. It features a medium-mesh colour strip, front bumper lower trim, hub style with colour strip, and a mid-mounted double-outlet exhaust pipe.
With the arrival of GAC, the landscape of Chinese automotive brands in South Africa expanded even further. The three grades offered by the manufacturer are Comfort, Executive and, as mentioned, the top of the line R-style. On paper, the Emzoom ticks plenty of right boxes in terms of design, performance, practicality and technology. The base Comfort model offers essential features such as 225/55R R18 tyres, a temporary spare wheel and electric hidden door handles. It boasts automatic air conditioning, a multifunction steering wheel, and fabric seats, the latter of which are enhanced with synthetic leather stitching.

The driver seat is manually adjustable, and the model includes a Hill-start Hold Control, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, and an Electronic Stability Program. Safety is further ensured with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, wireless Carplay and Carbitlink connectivity, a 10.25-inch multifunctional touch screen, and a 3.5-inch instrument cluster. Keyless entry, cruise control, and rear parking sensors with a camera are also standard.
The Executive model builds upon the Comfort’s offerings with additional features. It includes rear reading lights, a second-row air conditioning vent, a leather steering wheel, and leather seats. The instrument cluster is upgraded to a 7-inch LCD screen. Enhanced safety features include Adaptive Cruise Control, Automatic Emergency Braking , Forward Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition System, Intelligent Speed Limit Control, and Lane Departure Warning.
The top-tier Emzoom R-Style model includes all executive features and adds automatic headlights, a wireless charger, and an automatic tailgate. It features a sunroof with electric sunshades, a driver seat with six-way power adjustment, interior ambient lights, a surround-view camera system, and hill-descent control and high-beam assist. The R-Style Sport Pack includes a body kit, exhaust pipes, and enhanced sound.
The lineup shares the same 1.5-litre Turbo engine that produces 130 kW of power and 270 N.m of torque. Power is transmitted through a seven-speed automatic transmission. GAC claims the model can go from 0-100 km/h in 8.0 seconds. We’re currently attending the local launch of the GAC Emzoom, so keep an eye out for an in-depth driving impression shortly after the launch.
