The fourth-generation Geely Emgrand has been revealed with a number of modern touches while retaining traditional mechanical features. The latest model from the Chinese manufacturer is the first in the series to be developed on Geely’s B-segment Modular Architecture (BMA).
The new Geely Emgrand comes twelve years after the badge was introduced. Within this time, it has helped Geely to become the best-selling Chinese-manufactured sedan for nine consecutive years with a total sales figure of 3,25 million units.
In terms of design, the fourth-generation Geely Emgrand claims to offer a sleeker body, improved space, enhanced comfort, more dynamic handling, higher quality and advanced technologies compared to the previous model. The brand claims that the new shape sports an ultra-low 0,27 Cd drag coefficient figure and lower center of gravity. Overall, the new product measures 4 638 mm long, 1 820 mm wide and 1 460 mm tall.
The wider design of the Geely Emgrand has enabled designers to provide users with more space. The central control console features a unique double-layered three-dimensional storage compartment for added convenience together with increased boot space. Spatial visibility has also been improved with repositioned A-pillars which only block 2,7 degrees of the driver’s vision, effectively reducing blind spots and improving driving safety.
Powering the new Geely Emgrand is the brand’s naturally aspirated DVVT 1,5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine using an all-aluminium block. This provides a maximum power output of 84kW and 147 N.m of torque. This can either be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox or the latest generation CVT with eight steps. The CVT also boasts a hydraulic torque converter design which offers high transmission efficiency and smooth power outputs.
Where cabin equipment is concerned, the Geely Emgrand boasts 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10,25-inch floating central infotainment panel, the GKUI Geely Smart Ecosystem, AI voice assistant, a CN95 intelligent purifying AC system and other advanced technologies.
Higher trim models also offer 540 degree surround view camera system, ultra-high definition driving recorder, hands-free boot opener and other convenient features. Being connected to Geely’s Smart Ecosystem through the GKUI, the fourth-generation sedan also supports over-the-air updates which enables the constantly improving AI assistant, intelligent navigation, infotainment experience and other smart features.
