Tuning company Gemballa has been churning out Avalanche models since 1985, when it used the 930 Turbo platform to build a supercar-rivalling machine. So, it should be no surprise that the German tuners have now applied this badge to the current 911 Turbo.
The twin-turbo 3,8-litre flat-six engine now sends a mammoth 603 kW and 950 N.m (that’s an increase of 209 kW and 290 N.m) to all four wheels thanks to custom turbochargers and intake manifolds, a high-performance air filter, uprated cylinder heads and a new exhaust system. The dual-clutch transmission has also been reworked to cope with the substantial bump in power.
To improve handling and provide yet more grip, the Gemballa Avalanche gains an adjustable sports suspension system and a set of 255/30 ZR21 front and 325/25 ZR21 rear tyres. The in-your-face aerokit also ostensibly provides more downforce.
The interior gains a revamp, too, now featuring black-and-white leather upholstery with Alcantara and carbon-fibre detailing.
So, how much? Well, the Gemballa Avalanche will set you back a whopping R5,3-million, before tax, in Germany. And that makes it nearly double the price of the Porsche 911 GT3 also revealed in Geneva…
