The utilitarian model is one step closer to arriving in the garages of off-road enthusiasts. Ineos has officially confirmed that Grenadier production is underway with deliveries expected in the last month of the year.
The highly anticipated Ineos off-roader is officially being produced at the Hambach facility in France. This comes after several delays as a result of global supply chain disruptions for hampering the mass manufacture of the model.

Ineos Automotive’s commercial director, Mark Tennant stated: “We’ve come a long way since the project kicked off in 2017 and this is a landmark moment for Ineos Automotive as a vehicle manufacturer. To get to this point is a testament to the resilience and hard work of the entire Ineos Automotive team, our development partners, and our suppliers – for which we thank them all as we now look forward to making our first deliveries to customers.”
The model will be powered by a choice of two engines borrowed from BMWs stables. Either a petrol-powered twin-turbocharged inline-six with 210 kW and 450 N.m or a diesel of the same configuration with 183 kW and 550 N.m. Transferring the power to each corner will be an eight-speed automatic transmission and the permanent all-wheel drive will have a two-speed transfer case and three differential locks which will make it competent in tricky terrain.
With a strong interest in the product, 75 000 strong to be exact, Grenadier production now means the model is one step closer to reaching buyers with first deliveries expected to happen in December. This includes markets in Europe, Africa, Asia Pacific and the Middle East.
At the same time, Grenadier production is fully underway and the first products reach their buyers, Ineos Automotive will begin testing of the Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle derivative of the model. The hydrogen fuel cell powertrain will be put through its paces on and off of the beaten path which means the relatively youthful automaker is already looking to the future.
