It looks like the Chinese automotive giant is now taking a step into the world of fast EV sedans with the new GWM Saloon Mecha Dragon. The abstract sedan will be limited to just 101 units and feature a dual-motor setup as seen in established American and German products.
The GWM Saloon Mecha Dragon, inspired by a boss from Mega Man 2, adopts a dual-motor drivetrain with a total power output of 405 kW and 750 N.m of torque. With this, it claims to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 3,7 seconds.
It sources power from a 115 kWh battery pack that provides it with a claimed 802 km of range on a full charge. Using a 480 kW fast changing system, it can recover half of this capacity in just 10 minutes. Stopping power is provided by a set of Brembo brakes with four-piston callipers on the front axle.
Key standard features of the GWM Saloon Mecha Dragon include a conclusive digital display system that stretches from the instrument cluster to the passenger seat. The cabin also boasts a pair of cup holders in the centre console together with a rotary dial controller. The two-spoke steering wheel houses a set of touch-sensitive buttons to control the systems. All of these features are accentuated by a rather bright ambient lighting package.
Measuring over five metres long, the GWM Saloon Mecha Dragon seats five passengers with ample legroom for the rear occupants.
Each of the 101 units has been priced at 488 800 yuan (approximately R1,2 million).
