With healthy increases in torque and power, the Jolion S isn’t just an exterior upgraded SUV boasting sporty performance. Priced from R479 950, it will serve as the most expensive flagship in the Haval entry-level SUV lineup.
Aiding in Haval reaching the heights they are currently enjoying, the entry-level SUV from the Chinese manufacturer has been given a bit of an upgrade with the Jolion S now serving as the flagship of the lineup.
“Since its launch in 2021 the Haval Jolion has been a runaway success for Haval in South Africa. It has consistently topped the sales charts in the competitive compact SUV segment and significantly contributed to Haval’s incremental growth of the overall market share in South Africa.” It is why the Chinese automaker has now revised some engine components, added more power and trim in an effort to appeal to buyers wanting the versatility of an SUV with some extra grunt.
Under the bonnet is a new-generation 1,5-litre motor that packs an upgraded turbo. This enables the Jolion S to boast a maximum of 130 kW and 270 N.m, 25 kW and 60 N.m more than standard. All power is delivered to the front wheels via a seven-speed DCT. The driver is also able to tailor the driving experience by means of four driving modes covering Standard, Eco, Sports and Snow as well as three Dynamic adjustable steering modes, namely Sport, Comfort and Light.
On the outside, Haval has given the model some very subtle tweaks. This includes a unique front grille employing a chrome honeycomb pattern and blacked-out styling elements including front and rear bumper garnishing, side mirror caps, door beadings and roof rails. Within the wheel wells are 18-inch wheels finished in the same glossy black and wrapped in 225/55 rubber.
The interior has also received some upgrades to better suit to buyers wanting more engagement. This is namely in the form of steering-mounted paddle shifters while a 7-inch display sits behind. Infotainment is catered for by a 12,3-inch touch display and the seating now features front seat heating. Standard equipment now includes a comprehensive array of the latest safety tech too, with dual and front-side airbags as well as curtain airbags. Active safety equipment includes ABS with Electronic Brake Force Distribution and Brake Assist, Electronic Stability System (ESC) and Traction Control, Anti-Roll System and Secondary Collision Mitigation as well as Hill Assist.
