Earlier this year, the new Smart ForTwo and ForFour arrived in South Africa. Now the range is set to be extended thanks to the addition of quartet of somewhat hotter Brabus variants.
We’ve managed to lay our hands on pricing for these new models, each of which employs an 898 cm3 turbo-triple worth 80 kW and 170 N.m, a dual-clutch transmission and sports suspension.
It may not sound like very much oomph, but considering the two diminutive Smart vehicles together weigh barely more than a damp kitchen towel, it’s probably plenty. Expect the dash from standstill to 100 km/h to be completed in around 9,5 seconds in the ForTwo and a little more in the larger ForFour.
So, how much cash are we talking about here? Well, the Smart ForTwo Brabus comes in at R308 200 (or R360 000 for the “Xclusive” trim), while the ForFour version costs R313 300 (or R365 100 should you opt for the “Xclusive” model).
Selecting the “Xclusive” trim, for the record, means you gain standard items such as a height-adjustable driver’s sports seat, leather upholstery, seat heating, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and more.
