Think Hyundai already has a full range of crossovers? Well, think again. The Korean firm has announced plans to launch an all-new B-segment model in Europe.
Called the “Bayon”, the newcomer is expected to hit the market in Europe in the first half of 2021. Hyundai says the name was “inspired” by the city of Bayonne in the southwest of France.
From what we can tell, the Bayon will slot into the company’s already extensive crossover range in Europe at the very bottom, below the Kona, Tucson, Nexo and Santa Fe (the Venue and Creta are not available on that continent).
“Hyundai is strongly established in the European SUV market already, in terms of our model range as well as our sales success,” said Andreas-Christoph Hofmann, vice-president of marketing and product.
“By launching a new, additional B-segment model as the entry point into our SUV line-up, we see a great opportunity to cover European customers’ demand even better and to increase our offering in a highly popular segment.”
Hyundai says more details about its new Bayon will be revealed soon…
