Following the unveiling of Honda’s HR-V at the Geneva Motor Show in March, the new crossover has arrived fairly quickly in South Africa. Only two models will be available at the launch. A 1,5-litre (as found in the Jazz and Ballade models) and a 1,8-litre petrol engine. Both these engines will be connected to a CVT transmission, with no option of a manual gearbox.
Torque is send to the front wheels in both models, while the driver will have access to steering-wheel mounted paddles should he/she wish to override the transmission.
Inside the HR-V will offer Honda’s “magic seat” system to free up as much luggage space as possible.
Depending on the specific model, the driver will have access to a 5-inch or a 7-inch monitor to control the infotainment system. However, both systems feature Bluetooth connectivity with audio streaming with USB connections and a CD player.
In terms of safety, the HR-V offers six airbags, ABS with EBD and EBA and vehicle stability assist (VSA).
The 1,5-litre Comfort will retail for R299 900, and the 1,8 Elegance forR354 900. These prices include a 3-years/100 000 km warranty and a 4-years/60 000 km service plan.
