We already know that Honda’s highly anticipated NSX is going to be a hybrid supercar set to be released in 2017, but up until now the numbers have not been made clear.
Honda had confirmed that the NSX would feature a 3,5-litre twin-turbo V6 with a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission connected to the rear wheels. There are also three electric motors connected to each of the front wheels and one between the engine and transmission.
Honda’s American variant, Acura, has confirmed that the new NSX’s V6 will produce 373 kW and 500 N.m of torque and rev all the way to 7 500 r/min. The assist motor situated between the engine and transmission will provide the NSX with an additional 35 kW and 135 N.m of torque.
The two front electric motors will add 27 kW and 73 N.m to the front wheels. This brings the combined output of the NSX to 435 kW and 708 N.m. A claimed 0-100 km/h time sits at around the 3,0 second mark and the top speed is confirmed to be 307 km/h.
The NSX will be fairly heavy due to all of these electrical editions and will weigh in at 1 725 kg.
These stats are for the American market which means that South African models might be slightly different. Prices have not been confirmed yet but the estimated price tag sits at around $170 000 (+R2 300 000) for a base model.
