The McLaren 570GT has officially arrived in South Africa as the latest member of the British automaker’s Sports Series range.
Positioned above the 570S Coupé, the GT derivative employs the same 3,8-litre twin-turbo V8, again worth 419 kW and 600 N.m, and again mated to the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
But this body style features a side-hinged rear hatch (see image below), providing handy access to a 220 dm3 luggage area complemented by the 150 dm3 storage found up front. It furthermore comes fitted with a panoramic roof that makes the roofline slightly taller than that of the standard 570S, while the suspension has been retuned for comfort.
In short, McLaren says this model adds “extra comfort and practicality” to the supercar experience.
The 570GT sprints from standstill to 100 km/h in a claimed 3,4 seconds, with McLaren saying it will cross the 200 km/h-mark in under ten seconds. Top speed comes in at 328 km/h.
So, how much for the latest version of this British supercar? Well, prices for the 570GT start at R3,5-million, a R300 000 premium over the 570S…
