The Hyundai Atos automatic has been confirmed for South Africa as a new entry-level self-shifting product from the South Korean manufacturer. Retaining the Motion trim level, the list of standard features is in line with the current manual offering.
With a starting price of R189 900, the Hyundai Atos automatic employs a five-speed automated manual transmission which receives 50 kW and 99 N.m of torque from the naturally aspirated 1,1-litre four-cylinder petrol engine.
Included as standard in the Hyundai Atos automatic package is a 7,0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a multifunction steering wheel, a USB charging socket, air conditioning, electronic front windows, dual-airbags and ISOFIX for the rear bench.
The Hyundai Atos automatic offers peace of mind with its standard seven-year/200 000 km warranty and seven-year/150 000 km roadside assistance which is complemented by a one-year/15 000 km service plan.
“The successful introduction of the manual transmission derivative led us to examine an extension of the Atos offering by adding the new derivative with a five-speed automatic manual transmission,” says Stanley Anderson, sales and operations director at Hyundai Automotive South Africa.
“Road tests over a 1 100 km route that ranged from sea-level to the high altitude of the Highveld – all done in on-the-road comparison with some of the model’s main rivals in its segment – were conducted before the green light was given for the launch of the Hyundai Atos 1,1 Motion AMT.”
