The Hyundai Staria MPV has officially landed in South Africa as the replacement for the H-1. The futuristically styled van will be available with just one engine but two seater configurations can be opted for.
Kicking off the Hyundai Staria range, as detailed by DuoPorta is the 2,2D Executive nine-seater with a starting price of R789 900 while the 11-seater costs R799 900. Fitted as standard to this model is a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, electronic parking brake, six-airbags, climate control for the front and rear compartments, a multifunction steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster, heated mirrors, faux-leather upholstery, auto-on headlamps and rain-sensing wipers, front and rear park distance control with a rear-facing camera and blind-spot and lane-change assist.
The mid-range Hyundai Staria Elite, available as a nine-seater only, comes in at R959 900 and adds 18-inch alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitoring, lane departure and lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, keyless entry, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror, an electrically adjustable seat with lumbar support for the driver, heating and ventilation for both front seats, LED headlamps with DRLs and an electronic hands-free tailgate.
The flagship Hyundai Staria 2,2D Luxury, with a price tag of R1 099 900, is available as a nine-seater only as well. This adds paddle shifters to the steering wheel, rear privacy glass, a panoramic sunroof with dual openings, leather upholstery, electric seat adjustment for the driver and front passenger and 360 degree park assist.
All models are powered by the brand’s turbodiesel 2,2-litre four-cylinder engine with a power output of 130 kW and 430 N.m of torque. This is sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed torque converter which gives it a 0-100 km/h time of 12,4 seconds and a top speed of 185 km/h. All Hyundai Staria models also come standard with the brand’s six-year/90 000 km service plan.
