The Ineos Grenadier has been scheduled to arrive in South Africa by July 2022. The brand has now detailed indicative pricing for its product as well as how its dealer network will operate in South Africa.
Indicative pricing for the Ineos Grenadier before any options has been noted to start at R1 395 000. Currently, the brand has signed agreements with two partners to run three retail and service sites. In Johannesburg and Pretoria, the SMH Group will act as a hub while SMG will cover Cape Town and Durban.
Additional hand-picked service-only sites will provide further aftersales coverage. Seeing as the product has been marketed as a thoroughbred adventuring vehicle, it promises that customers will never be further than 50 km away from an accredited workshop. Where spare parts are not on the shelf, Ineos says it will target a delivery to major markets within 24 hours.
“We wanted to give customers the choice of how much they wanted to see us, which means providing a full combination of digital and physical options,” said Mark Tennant, Commercial Director at Ineos Automotive. “Customer convenience, parts availability, service quality. We are focusing on getting the basics right, giving customers the buying experience they want and the aftersales support they need.
“If preferred, customers in our main markets will be able to buy their Grenadier online, including organising vehicle finance and handling any part exchanges. But we fully accept that most will want to try before they buy, for which having an extensive network on the ground is essential.”
Ineos is currently in discussions with leading auto retailers to establish sites in Namibia and Botswana for launch, providing full sales and aftersales operations. Further retail partners will be appointed in Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana and Ivory Coast. The brand will launch in Angola, Kenya and Senegal with distributor partners.
