Inspired by RS2! Audi celebrates 25 years of RS with special packs…

Audi has revealed a raft of special anniversary packages (each doffing its cap to the RS2 Avant) to celebrate 25 years of the RS badge.

Back in 1994, of course, the RS2 Avant arrived as the first high-performance station wagon from Ingolstadt. And now Audi Sport has released a special equipment package (wordily dubbed the “Anniversary Package 25 Years of RS”) for the TT RS, RS4 Avant, RS5 Coupé, RS5 Sportback, RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback.

“All our RS models are strong characters. The RS2 Avant from 1994 already represented our philosophy of a strong performance, individuality and full everyday usability. This is basis of our success story,” said Oliver Hoffmann, managing director of Audi Sport.

“For our anniversary package, we placed the focus on individuality. The exterior and interior make reference to our first RS model, the RS2 Avant.”

Interestingly, the RS models that are now offered with the anniversary package can be specified in the RS2 Avant’s pearl-effect Nogaro Blue paint colour upon request. Mythos Black, Nardo Grey and Glacier White hues are also available.

The anniversary package combines a matte aluminium look with gloss-black elements. A special RS anniversary logo showing the number “25” is projected onto the ground when the doors are opened and is also featured on the wheel centre cover. To match the exterior, the wheels are designed in a two-tone look featuring silver and gloss anthracite.

Updates to the cabin are also inspired by the RS2, dominated by black with cobalt blue accents in Alcantara on the piping of the mats and the centre marking on the steering wheel.

The sport seats with a honeycomb pattern in the TT RS, RS4 and RS5 models combine fine Nappa leather with centre panels in Alcantara, just like the RS2 Avant. The upholstery in the RS6 and RS7, meanwhile, is offered in perforated Valcona leather, with a blue contrast shimmering through. Yet more “25 years” logos are scattered around the cabin.

Whether the packages will be offered outside of Europe remains to be seen…
