The Land Rover Defender V8 has now landed in South Africa as the most powerful option for the premium off-roader. The flagship model arrives with a new special Carpathian Edition which provides the SUV with unique visuals.
The supercharged 5,0-litre V8 with 368 kW and 625 N.m of torque is available in both in both 90 and 110 body styles with a price-tag of R2 386 900 and R2 460 500 respectively. With this engine equipped, the three-door Land Rover Defender V8 will sprint from 0-100 km/h in 5,2 seconds while the five-door, 5,4 seconds.
The models also features a revised suspension and transmission to compensate for the extra power. A larger-diameter and solid set of anti-roll bars with a new electronic active rear differential featuring yaw control is also added to enhance handling and improve balance.
The Land Rover Defender V8 Carpathian Edition is available as a 90 at R2 482 300 and 110 at R2 555 900. This model is finished in Carpathian Grey which is contrasted by a Narvik black roof, bonnet and taildoor. Additional visual highlights include Satin Black towing eyes and distinctive Xenon Blue brake callipers.
The exterior of the Land Rover Defender V8 Carpathian Edition is also finished in the firm’s satin protective film which consists of recyclable PU-based wrap that is applied to bodywork to give the Defender a semi-matte finish. This also claims to protect it from mild scratches and off-road bramble rash.
Within the Land Rover Defender V8 Carpathian Edition, seats are finished in Miko Suedecloth with Robustec accents. An Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and illuminated treadplates rounds-off the cabin experience.
The Land Rover Defender V8 customers can also be fitted with the new Extended Black Pack as an option. This provides a Gloss Black finish for the front and rear skid plates, grille bar, bonnet chequer finisher, badging, lower body cladding and wheel arches for a stealthy and purposeful appearance.
All models come standard with a five-year/100 000 km warranty and maintenance plan.
