The Lumma CLR LD kit has been completed for the current Land Rover Defender. Previewed late last year, the rather eye-catching modification adds a number of parts to the exterior and cabin in order to make the British SUV appear a bit bolder as it cruises through the streets.
For the body, a front spoiler attachment, rear apron, side skirts, front grille, bonnet attachment and wheel arch extensions that widen the vehicle by 40 mm at the front and rear, have been attached. All components are weight-optimised and either made of carbon fibre or polyurethane plastic.
The body customisation firm claims that the Lumma CLD LD’s widened kit combines sophisticated aerodynamics with a spectacular look. Using large air inlets on the wings, it ensures an optimum flow of fresh air to the engine and underlines the sporty and dynamic look while an additional roof panel with two integrated spotlights maintains its off-road character.
A set of 23-inch CLR 23 GT alloy wheels and quad-tailpipe trims complement the tougher look. Within the cabin, the custom Defender has been fitted with new floor mats and an aluminium pedal set.
If the Lumma CLR LD is a bit too forward-looking for you, a boutique company based in the Netherlands has devised a number of rust-finished trimmings to make the modern 4×4 appear more historic. This advanced process uses a metal-binding technology that sprays a thin layer of different types of metal on the vehicle’s body. Once the spray is applied, the Heritage Customs team oxidizes the material which provides the Defender with a patina look.
Kahn Design, a subsidiary of the Chelsea Truck Company in the United Kingdom, also revealed a more reserved custom build for the Defender last year which uses a number of bespoke exterior panels and a bold set of 23-inch alloy wheels.
