The Mahindra Roxor has been officially revealed as a down-to-earth and completely basic 4×4 product with the promise of toughness and reliability. The original Jeep Willys tribute will be available in two trims with one turbodiesel option.
The new Mahindra Roxor maintains the core strength of a boxed steel frame and steel body, riding on a set of front and rear leaf springs with double-acting shock absorbers. With this, it caters to farmers, ranchers, outdoor enthusiasts and rural property owners who are tired of having to fix and replace light-duty and plastic-bodied side-by-sides.
Overall, the Mahindra Roxor measures 3 759 mm long, 1 542 mm wide and 1 905 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2 439 mm and ground clearance of 229 mm. Base kerb mass has been quoted at 1 356 kg.
The Mahindra Roxor is powered by a turbodiesel 2,5-litre four-cylinder engine which delivers 46 kW and 195 N.m of torque with a compression ratio of 18,6:1. Power is delivered to a 4×4 system via a five-speed manual with a two-speed manual transfer case.
The package is kept to be as simple as possible with comfort features consisting of a hydraulic steering system, a single display gauge, halogen headlamps, two seat boxes for storage and a rollover protection bar. 16-inch steel wheels with a set of 235/70 R16 Goodyear Wrangler Trailrunner all-terrain tyres keep the package as simple as possible.
Those who work in harsher environments can opt for the all-weather roof which increases the overall mass to 1 506 kg.
“The Roxor brand has built a passionate following with off-road enthusiasts and rural lifestyle customers. We are excited to bring this unique SXS back into the market,” said Viren Popli, President and CEO, Mahindra Ag North America and Mahindra Automotive North America.
“The fast-growing rural lifestyle segment presents a great opportunity for Roxor,” said Rich Ansell, VP of Marketing for Mahindra Automotive North America. “The demand for the Roxor with farmers and ranchers is strong due to the vehicle’s ability to take on the tough jobs around their property. They already know and like the Mahindra brand because of how successful we’ve been with our tractors, and we intend to build on this strong reputation for tough, easy-to-use products.”
“The Mahindra brand is synonymous with tough and Roxor further solidifies this position,” said Popli. “We are excited to create a new definition of SXS, one that matches our tractors for tough and handles any job with ease.”
