The Mahindra Scorpio S11 Adventure has been revealed for the South African market as a limited edition offering with a generous list of standard kit. The local arm of the Indian manufacturer says that this new trim caters to families that wish to live large and explore all of South Africa.
With a price tag of R417 999, the Mahindra Scorpio S11 Adventure includes a new off-road steel bumpers designed specifically for this model. The bumpers integrate into the SUV design to increase both the approach and departure angles. This piece also boasts a laser-cut Mahindra insignia with integrated fog lamps. Thanks to its rugged construction and anchor points on the chassis, serious off-road and overlanding enthusiasts can also fit other recovery gear like an electric winch or high-lift jack.
At the rear of the Mahindra Scorpio S11 Adventure, a matching departure bumper is fitted flush between the side-moulded bumper sections. This bumper is equipped with a tow bar as standard and is pre-fitted with recovery hooks and high-lift jacking points.
The package is rounded off by a set of 245/65 R17 all-terrain tyres with 17-inch off-road specific wheels. These tyres are upgraded from the 235/65 R17 road-biased rubber of the standard model.
Under the bonnet of the Mahindra Scorpio S11 Adventure is the Indian firm’s turbodiesel 2,2-litre four-cylinder mHawk engine which delivers 103 kW and 320 N.m of torque to the 4×4 system via a six-speed manual gearbox that allows drivers to flip through 2H and 4H modes on the go up to 100 km/h.
Inside the cabin, the Mahindra Scorpio S11 Adventure come standard with electronic climate control, power steering, cruise control, a voice-command system and electric windows all round. It also sports a new seven-inch infotainment system that offers improved touch-sensitivity and faster operation than its predecessor. The infotainment system incorporates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard and it features a USB and Bluetooth phone interface. The new screen also displays the high-resolution images of the in-built reverse camera.
Included as standard as well is a five-year/90 000 km service plan and four-year/120 000 km comprehensive mechanical warranty.
