Just two days ago we were treated to the official reveal of the Mahindra XUV700. The local division of the Indian manufacturer has now confirmed that the new SUV will be coming to South Africa to replace the current XUV500.
Although pricing is yet to be confirmed, the Mahindra XUV700 will be available by the first half of 2022. The firm also says that product planning is only now starting with the local specification, but the brand expects it to be very close to the Indian specification level.
In India, the flagship Mahindra XUV700 comes standard with an array of safety features such as adaptive cruise control, high beam assist and traffic sign recognition. A key addition to the interior is the new 10,25-inch HD infotainment screen that flows into a second 10,25-inch digital instrument cluster.
The new system features wireless Android Auto and Apple Car Play connectivity, screen casting and built-in Amazon Alexa integration for the voice command system. It also introduces a new Andreo X Connect app that provides remote access to the car’s systems such as the locking and air conditioning.
The Mahindra XUV700 also sports a 12-speaker system sourced from Sony with 3D surround sound and a smart clean filter that claims to create a 99 per cent bacteria-free environment. For the sake of convenience, the SUV boasts passive keyless entry with a push start button, electrically adjustable seats with a memory function, a voice-controlled glass panoramic sunroof and a reverse camera with park assist.
Providing a conclusive safety offering, the XUV700 also boasts seven airbags within the cabin as well as electronic stability control, front collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist and driver drowsiness detection.
