Mahindra took the opportunity to launch its brand new KUV100 light crossover this previous weekend. The new quirky and strange EcoSport fighter is an attempt to appeal to the young drivers of the world and comes available in both five or six seater configurations, meaning that it would also be suitable for someone with a large circle of friends.
The “rough and tough” KUV100 is powered by a Mahindra’s mFlacon powertrains. First of the lot is a small 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine delivering 61 kW and 114 N.m of torque but for those who are more fuel conscious there is a more economical diesel engine of the same configuration which produces 57 kW 190 N.m.
Both of these engines will be mated to a five-speed manual transmission driving the front wheels with stop-start technology and an Eco driving mode. Clearly the main focus of the KUV100 is to be as fuel efficient as possible but patrons will also have the added benefit of ABS and EBD as standard. The higher specced K8 will come with even more safety in the shape of dual front airbags (available as options for lower tiers).
Other options on the KUV100 will include front & rear armrests, electrically-adjustable mirrors, multi-function steering wheel and a multimedia system with Bluetooth support.
There is no word on whether the KUV100 will be made available in South Africa as yet.
