The Manhart Defender DP500 package has been revealed as a conclusive upgrade for the turbopetrol 3,0-litre straight-six P400 variant that once sat as the flagship of the range before the recently revealed V8-powered variant came about. Included in this catalogue is an increase in power, revisions to the chassis and some cosmetic enhancements both inside and out.
As standard, the six-pot produces 294 kW and 550 N.m of torque to all four wheels via an eight-speed torque converter. This has been increased to 377 kW and 710 N.m by means of implementing a custom engine control software. This increase just about puts it on par with the aforementioned V8 which delivers 386 kW and 625 N.m.
Although no improved performance figures have been noted for the bump in power, Manhart is currently developing a stainless steel exhaust system that will increase the engines aural presence. This system will be made available with carbon or ceramic-coated tailpipes.
For an improved stance and on-road dynamics to accommodate the increase in performance, the Manhart Defender DP500 has been fitted with an optimisation program for the air suspension which lowers the ride by 30 mm. On request, the firm will also implement an upgraded braking system for those who wish to push the 4×4 a bit closer to the limits.
To match these mechanical enhancements, Manhart has applied a set of 24-inch Forged Line design alloy wheels with a light grey finish and 295/30 ZR24 tyres. A smaller 22-inch Concave One design is available to those who prefer better comfort and a less dramatic look detailed in black with gold details.
Further adding presence to the design is a set of flared wings and an engine cover, giving the Manhart Defender DP500 a more muscular presence. Decorative silver stripes are applied to the side to contrast the black bodywork.
Within the cabin, high-quality leather and Alcantara has been used to reupholster the seats and trims and are set apart by individually selectable accents. Furthermore, a set of electrically operated ErgoMed front seats, with heating and cooling, sourced from Recaro are applied to give the Manhart Defender DP500 a sportier feel.
