The Modena based manufacturer has decided to add some sportiness to their albeit gracefully, but ageing Ghibli, Levante and Quattroporte models. The Maserati MC Editions will boast two unique colours, updated trim and new rims.
Taking inspiration from the flag of Modena where the historic automaker is based; the Maserati MC Editions will be available in either a glossy Giallo Corse (yellow) or Blu Vittoria dark blue which covers the Italian bodywork in matte finishing. The MC in the name simply means Maserati Corse (Maserati Racing) and is a continuation of a story that began at the famed Targa Florio for the brand over 95 years ago.
Expectedly, a three-layer paint job isn’t the only update to the race inspired models. New Y-shape spoke rims finished in gloss-black sit in all four corners of the models with the Levante boasting 22-inch items and the two sedans 21-inches. Piano Black exterior trim including MC Edition logos compliments the dark rims.
The interior of the special editions includes black leather seats with MC Edition embroidered beneath Poseidon’s trident on the headrest. Stylish looking denim has been woven into the mix onto the centre section of the seats which compliments the yellow and blue stitching found throughout the cabin in and amongst the blue carbon fibre trim. A Bowers & Wilkins surround sound system and electric sunroof complete the inside.
The Maserati MC Editions are intended to be sold in the EMEA, APAC, and China regions from February which means local Maserati dealers have already started taking orders for the special editions.
Maserati’s future product plan has no major changes intended for the Ghibli until after 2023 and the next generation of the Quattroporte is set to be all-electric. We can look forward to the Grecale SUV in the coming months while a fully electric version of the crossover is expected at a later date.
