The Maserati Quattroporte has been handed a subtle restyling inside and out, along with the option of two new trim levels.
The current generation of the four-door luxury saloon hit the market in 2013, and this updated version will be available in initial markets from this month.
On the outside, the restyled Quattroporte features a new bumper design with a matte black profile at the front and a matte black extractor at the rear. Furthermore, the front grille is now more imposing, and introduces new vertical chrome elements.
Other distinguishing details of the facelifted Quattroporte are the matte black side-skirts and the side-mirrors, which have been slightly restyled.
An electrically adjustable air shutter has also been added to the front grille, between the air vents and the radiator. This provides “optimal” control of the engine’s fluid temperature and, together with the new front and rear bumpers, air conveyor and flat bottom, improves the aerodynamic drag of the car by 10%, according to Maserati.
Inside, the redesigned dashboard now accommodates a capacitive high-resolution 8,4-inch touchscreen, compatible with both the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functions. The lower console has also been restyled and now features a rotary knob for volume and function control, a new lid and a phone storage compartment.
A new package of driver assistance systems is available as an option in the new Quattroporte, and includes the likes of adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, forward collision warning, and a surround view camera.
All Quattroporte models are furthermore now equipped with an air quality sensor, part of a system that calculates the external pollution levels and prevents polluted air and toxic gases from entering the cabin.
With the restyling of the Quattroporte, Maserati has launched a new range strategy, introducing two new trim options: GranLusso and GranSport. The trims will be available as an upgrade for all Quattroporte V6 powertrain versions, priced at the same level across the range, and comprise upgrades inside and out.
In terms of engines, little has changed. The Quattroporte engine range is unchanged, although the 3,0-litre V6 has been tuned to deliver a smidgen more power at 257 kW. A handful of models also gain a slightly higher top speed.
