McLaren Senna’s twin-turbo V8 gets even more extreme thanks to Novitec

By: CAR magazine

The McLaren Senna is the firm’s most extreme road-going product at the moment, thanks to its powerful engine and lightweight construction. If you desire even more from the vehicle, though, Novitec is offering a power upgrade and a set of new wheels.

Using the twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8 as a base, Novitec has fitted its in-house-developed engine control unit to push the power output up from 588 kW and 800 N.m of torque to 663 kW and 888 N.m. For those wanting a more subtle increase in oomph, stage one and stage two packages can be specified.

With stages two and three, a “power optimised” exhaust system from Inconel (complete with a catalyst-replacement pipe) is also fitted. This system is accompanied by a flap-regulation module to adjust the volume.

Fitted with the stage three package, the Senna will accelerate from zero to 100 km/h in a claimed 2,7 seconds and from standstill to 200 km/h in a claimed 6,5 seconds. An increased top speed of 335 km/h is also unlocked.

No major visual changes have been made to the Senna but it does gain a set of 20-inch front and 21-inch rear MC3 forged alloy wheels, each with a central lock and wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero rubber. Of course, Novitec will provide customised interiors as per the customer’s wishes at an additional cost.
