BMW has unveiled its new X7 Dark Shadow Edition, a particularly menacing take on the Munich-based firm’s flagship SUV.
The German automaker says the new model will bear the “status of a collector's item”, with only “about 500 units” scheduled to be built at its Spartanburg plant for the worldwide market from August 2020.
Interestingly, the X7 Dark Shadow Edition will be available with any of the engines offered in the standard version of the large SUV.
So, what makes this X7 special? Well, perhaps the most obvious feature is the BMW Individual special paint finish in Frozen Arctic Grey metallic. The menacing paintjob is joined by the BMW Individual High Gloss Shadow Line package.
So, in addition to the side-window surrounds, covers of the B- and C-pillar and side-mirror bases, a black-chrome finish has been applied to the frame and the bars of the hefty kidney grille, the “air breathers” and the tailpipe covers.
The M sports package likewise forms part of the standard equipment list of the X7 Edition Dark Shadow, along with 22-inch M light-alloy wheels in a V-spoke design with a Jet Black matte finish (and fitted with mixed tyres). Furthermore, the M sports exhaust system is included.
Inside, you’ll find an M leather-wrapped steering wheel and BMW Individual equipment details “specially developed” for the X7 Edition Dark Shadow. The Merino full leather upholstery comes in two-tone form (Night Blue/Black with contrasting seams), while the roof liner is offered in Night Blue with an Alcantara finish.
The upper sections of the instrument panel and armrests are covered with Nappa leather in Night Blue, while black Merino leather is used on the instrument panel’s lower section and the front backrests. In the centre console, BMW has added the obligatory edition logo.
