Mercedes-AMG G63 fitted with lightweight carbon-fibre body kit…

Remember that 1 050 N.m Mercedes-AMG G63 Inferno Russian company TopCar unleashed in 2019? Well, the firm has now lifted the wraps off a lightweight version of its Inferno body kit, equipping Affalterbach’s top-tier Geländewagen with a collection of carbon-fibre bits and pieces.

Comprising 21 different items, one of the most notable items included in the Inferno Light package is a carbon-fibre bonnet, costing €7 500 (around R120 260 at the current euro-to-rand exchange rate). The revised front lip (R49 700), new side sills (R64 180) and a modified diffuser (R46 530) are also manufactured out of the light-weight composite, as are the R40 120 door handles.

In addition, optional extras, such as a carbon-fibre roof-mounted spoiler and spare-wheel cover can be specified for R40 040 and R32 030, respectively. Although the G63 seen here rides on its standard alloys, four different wheel designs, ranging from 20 to 23 inches in diameter, are on offer.

The halo G-Wagen’s standard 4,0-litre V8 remains, with the twin-turbocharged mill directing a healthy 430 kW and 850 N.m of torque to the front and rear axles via the German automaker’s nine-speed automatic transmission. However, the fitment of an R144 310 Akropovič exhaust system, replete with rhomboid tips (R28 860) adds extra aural drama to accompany the G’s imposing looks.

TopCar has not revealed how much weight the Inferno Light package saves on the stock G63’s 2,4-tonne mass, and whether it has improved performance figures. As standard, however, Mercedes-AMG claims a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4,5 seconds and top speed of 220 km/h (or 240 km/h when specifying the optional AMG drivers package).
