Mercedes-AMG has released details about its “extensively enhanced” base GT model, which gains an extra 40 kW from its twin-turbo 4,0-litre V8.
Again offered in rear-driven coupé and roadster form, the updated Mercedes-AMG GT now boasts a peak power output of 390 kW, some 40 kW more than before. Interestingly, the company has thus discontinued the GT S derivatives (which had made 384 kW).
In addition, the Affalterbach-based performance division says standard equipment on the GT now includes AMG Ride Control suspension with adaptive damping, along with an electronic locking differential on the rear axle, the AMG high-performance composite braking system and brake callipers finished in red. Furthermore, these models gain a lithium-ion starter battery and the "Race" drive programme.
What else? Well, the "Night Edition" treatment will also be available for both base GT variants. This comprises the AMG Exterior Night Package, black brake callipers, dark-chrome grille, black elements for the headlamps and mixed-size tyres with 19-inch matte-black Y-spoke wheels fore and 20-inch items aft.
Further "Night Edition" features include a carbon-fibre roof, AMG Performance seats, AMG Interior Night Package, AMG steering wheel, "exclusive" Nappa leather upholstery and various trim elements in black piano lacquer.
