Mercedes-AMG has had very successful Formula 1 seasons over the past two years and to commemorate this the A45 super hatch has received a Petronas inspired workover with no mechanical upgrades.
The first thing to notice about this A45 is the petrol green and black livery that matches the W06 Hybrid racer’s theme with a bigger front splitter, and a rear-mounted roof spoiler. Those interested in this A45 will have the option of colouring it in polar silver metallic, designo mountain grey magno and mountain grey metallic with a set of 19-inch cross-spoke titanium grey wheels detailed with a petrol green rim flange.
The A45 Petronas will have the AMG Exclusive Package, AMG Dynamic Plus Package, electrically adjustable AMG Performance seats in leather and Alcantara and the ‘Night Package’ as standard equipment. On the inside it gets a performance steering wheel dressed in Alcantara with petrol green stitching (also found on the dashboard, armrests, and on the air vents rings).
Power figures will match those of the standard facelifted A45 with 282 kW and 475 N.m of torque being delivered from the 2,0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine. The seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, which drives all four wheels, helps to accelerate the car to 100 km/h in a claimed 4,2 seconds.
Expect to see this special A45 on display at the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in Yas Marina. It will only be available for the first quarter of 2016 with prices starting at €65 402,40 (R986 203,77).
