Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the updated version of its flagship SUV; the GLS. This new model receives a plethora of updates and improvements to enhance the comfort, connectivity, and luxury experience for its passengers.
One of the most noticeable changes in the exterior of the new GLS is the redesigned front grille. The four louvres now come in high-quality Silver Shadow, giving the car an even more striking appearance. The bumper has also been updated with integrated air inlet grilles and a surround in high-gloss black. At the rear, the lights feature a new interior design with three horizontal blocks, adding a touch of elegance to the vehicle.
Additionally, there are new wheel options available, including a 20-inch multi-spoke light-alloy wheel in Himalayas grey with a high-sheen finish and a 23-inch alloy wheel for some models.
The GLS580 4MATIC comes with an optional Off-Road Engineering Package that adds a front skid plate and increases the ground clearance by 1,2-inches. Stepping inside, two new leather colours, Catalana beige and Bahia brown are now available, alongside a revised range of interior trim finishes. Glossy brown lime wood is now standard and the MANUFAKTUR glossy black flowing lines piano lacquer trim element is now available for the GLS family.
The Mercedes-AMG GLS63 has received some small tweaks as well, including light projectors that display an AMG-specific animation on the ground. There are also new Nappa leather upholstery options, a panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated front seats, and adaptive high beams. A software update has adjusted the settings for the roll stabilization and air suspension systems.
Under its beautiful skin, the GLS boasts an impressive lineup of engines. The GLS450 4MATIC is equipped with a 3,0-litre turbocharged inline-six engine capable of producing 279 kW of power and 500 N.m of torque. The GLS580 4MATIC comes with a 4,0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine that produces 380 kW of power and 729 N.m of torque, while the Mercedes-Maybach GLS600 has a 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that spits out 404 kW of power and 729 N.m of torque.

The range-topping Mercedes-AMG GLS63 is powered by a beefy 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that produces an outstanding 449 kW of power and 850 N.m of torque. All models have a mild 48-volt hybrid system that adds an extra 14 kW of power and 200 N.m of torque, with the GLS580 4MATIC and GLS63 receiving a 250 N.m torque boost from the electric motor.
Overall, the upgraded Mercedes-Benz GLS is a true powerhouse, offering unparalleled luxury, performance, and comfort. European dealerships will have this new model available from the end of October 2023, making it an exciting addition to the luxury SUV market.
