Back in February 2019, Mercedes-Benz revealed fresh Final Edition models to celebrate more than 20 years of the SLC (and the SLK that preceded it). And now we can share how much these special models will cost in South Africa.
Interestingly, Mercedes-Benz SA will offer the Final Edition package on all three variants in the local range: the SLC200, SLC300 and Mercedes-AMG SLC43.
In the case of the first two, the Final Edition package will add R101 050 to the price. That means the SLC200 Final Edition will start at R896 023 while the SLC300 Final Edition will kick off at R980 023.
And the SLC43? Well, specifying the flagship variant in Final Edition guise will add R75 038 and see the starting price rise to R1 230 482.
So, what does the Final Edition package include? Well, the front bumpers feature trim strips sporting a silver chrome finish on the lower section (although if you specify the model in sun yellow – the hue first used by the original SLK back in 1996 – polar white or diamond white, this lower section is finished in black).
In addition, the door handles, side-mirror caps and rear brace sport a high-gloss black finish, while “SLC Final Edition” badging appears on the front wings, below the chromed fin. Five-spoke 18-inch AMG light-alloy wheels with a high-gloss black finish are also part of the package.
The special model is based on the AMG Line trim level, which includes AMG Styling bumpers front and rear, sports suspension with 10 mm lowering and an upgraded braking system (with perforated discs and front callipers sporting the "Mercedes-Benz" name).
Inside, you’ll find two-tone nappa leather in black/silver pearl with alpaca grey topstitching (with the latter hue echoed on the seat belts). “Carbon-fibre look” leather inserts in the head restraints and the upper section of the seatbacks are also specific to this model.
The trim elements on the instrument panel and the centre console sport a bright aluminium finish, while the sports steering wheel is clad in a mix of the so-called “carbon leather” as well as smooth nappa leather in the grip area.
For the record, Mercedes-Benz hasn’t officially confirmed the future of the SLC roadster.
