Coming in at just under R1,2 million, the Mercedes EQA 250 serves as an entry level offering for buyers in the premium electric compact SUV segment. Here is local pricing and specification for the new model.

As part of the flurry of electric vehicles introduced to our local market at the Festival of Motoring by Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa is the EQA 250. The compact SUV offers an entry point to the all-electric world of Mercedes-EQ vehicles with the characteristic luxury affiliated to the brand.
Akin to its similarly sized fossil-fuel powered compatriot, the GLA, the EQA 250 offers compact proportions, moderate ground clearance and a front-wheel drive layout. This makes it the first and only one in the lineup not to power the rear wheels but that shouldn’t be a dealbreaker for its intended use.
“The EQA is the perfect companion for our clientele who have an active, urban lifestyle. It is the perfect entry option into the luxury electric segment,” says Mark Raine, Co-CEO of Mercedes-Benz South Africa and Executive Director of Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa.
With urban use core the EQA 250, an 11 kW Wallbox connected to a domestic socket will take charge from 10% to full in approximately six hours. For anything faster, rapid charging stations of up to 100 KW with direct current can recharge the model from 10% to 80% in only 30 minutes.

Standard safety features include Active Lane Keeping Assist and Active Brake Assist while other equipment included is LED High Performance headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, an electrically operated boot, keyless-go, 18-inch light-alloy wheels, electronically adjusted seats and Active Parking Assist with a reversing camera. The new model can be personalised with the AMG Line equipment package, as well as the MBUX Innovation Package, Advanced Plus Package, Night Package and finally, Electric Art.
