In Mercedes overnight EQ range introduction is the EQB 350 which is aimed squarely at growing families as an attractive electric alternative to the fossil-fuel powered GLB. Here is local pricing and specification for the new model.
With the optionality of seven seats configuration and a commodious boot, Mark Raine, Co-CEO of Mercedes-Benz South Africa and Executive Director of Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa, touts the EQB 350 to be “the perfect outdoor-lifestyle-oriented SUV for families and young couples, while at the same time making a bold statement on the road.”
Along with the unmistakable three-pointed star styling ushering in a new era of electric mobility is a generously equipped SUV in standard guise. The comprehensive standard specification of the EQB 350 includes LED High Performance headlamps with Adaptive Highbeam Assist, an electrically operated boot, Keyless-go, 18-inch light-alloy wheels, Navigation Connectivity Package, Comfort seats with four-way adjustable lumbar support and an Active Parking Assist with a reversing camera.
The new model can be personalised with the AMG Line equipment package, as well as the MBUX Innovation Package, Advanced Plus Package, Night Package and finally, Electric Art. Edition 1 models will also include AMG Body trim, roof rails in black, heat-insulating dark-tinted glass, 20-inch AMG multi-spoke alloy wheels, leather trim in Neva Grey with CYBER CUT blue trim, heated front seats and special floor mats with ‘Edition 1’ lettering.
Despite the bulbous looking silhouette of the EQB 350 which Mercedes dub as a function-oriented greenhouse, the model boasts an impressive drag coefficient with a Cd value from 0.28. This is courtesy of visible and underbody aerodynamic measures to ensure the family hauler pierces through the air with as little resistance as possible.
With an emphasis on family, the EQB 350 has been designed around passenger spaciousness with generous legroom in the first and second row of seats. With the third-row of seats locked into the floor, the boot can boast as much as 1 710 litres of volume.
