One last hoorah for the pinnacle BMW performance sedan? German tuning house Manhart has given the outgoing BMW M5 CS a bump in power to a staggering 549 kW before the F90 replacement arrives on the market. This is the bold MH5 GTR. 
Serving as a plush but brutal sedan, intended at wafting prominent businessmen from meeting to meeting, the BMW in question has become a staple for luxury Bavarian performance. Manhart has one-upped the stock derivative, tuning the biturbo 4,4-litre S63 V8 engine to produce a staggering 549 kW and 935 N.m of torque courtesy of an in-house carbon air intake and MHtronik auxiliary control unit.

The car, dubbed the MH5 GTR, also features a number of mechanical upgrades, including a stainless steel exhaust system and a coilover suspension from KW. The exterior has been adorned with decorative stripes and lettering, and the interior has been given a new set of floor mats with Manhart logos. The one-off model boasts a full exhaust system that is awaiting German standards approval. Any kits exported can be specified without catalytic converters or with a Manhart OPF Delete boasting 200-cell HJS catalytic converters, and MANHART OPF/GPF Deleter.
The aforementioned KW kit has also hunkered the MH5 GTR closer to the ground coupled to 21-inch ten-spoke rims while the other exterior upgrades mimic all previous Manhart creations. This includes a matte exterior finish paired with decorative stripes and lettering with the standard Manhart logos. 
The G30 BMW 5 Series and the F90 M5 are both approaching the end of their production cycles and the Manhart MH5 GTR may just be one last sendoff for the venerable performance sedan. Pricing hasn’t been included by Manhart but based on how much an unmolested model costs, this would probably come in a million Rand more expensive at R3,5 million.
