If you’re having a hard time letting go of the old Land Rover Defender, Italian firm Ares Design has put together a package that you might just appreciate.
Using the bones of the old Defender, this Spec 1,2 build adds a carbon-fibre bonnet, widened wheel arches and a more modern single-piece grille with LED headlamps. At the rear, new circular LEDs have been used for the taillamps.
Inside the upgraded Defender you’ll find a bespoke design featuring premium leather and carbon-fibre. There's also a new infotainment system, upgraded air-conditioning system and electric windows all round.
The powerplant has been updated as well. A 4,8-litre V8 good for 206 kW and 480 N.m of torque replaces the the four-pot turbodiesel mill. This power is sent to the wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission.
To compensate for the extra oomph, the transmission, axle shafts and CV joints have been strengthened. Additional stopping power is provided by performance brake discs with six-piston callipers. Handling ability is improved by the adoption of an electronically adjustable suspension system with comfort and sport damping settings.
